The problem:
Switching between PDF documents in Acrobat using Alt-tilde resets the document view each time (Windows).
Solution:
Open each PDF into its own instance of Acrobat.
I often have to copy pages between several PDF documents at once but the default settings for Acrobat makes drag and dropping of pages between documents awkward and painful because all PDFs open within a single instance of Acrobat. Only one document is active at a time and the view settings are reset when switching between documents.
I've found that having each PDF in it's own completely independent Acrobat window really makes things easier.
Follow these instructions to make each PDF open into its own independent Acrobat application window, allowing you to Alt-Tab between documents with ease.
- Control panels > Folder Options > File Types tab
- Select PDF. Click "Advanced"
- Edit "Open with Acrobat"
- Add a "/n" (no quotes) between the application path and the "%1"
- Close out the control panel
